Starlink Satellites Help in Fire Fight

Satellites launched from Florida are now helping to fight wildfires in Washington State.

SpaceX loaned seven terminals to firefighters so they could access the network of Starlink internet satellites.

Firefighters often have no access to the internet while in the filed and being able to access the web can give real-time updates on fire patterns, weather conditions, and the locations of fellow firefighters.

According to CNN, Washington State was already in talks with SpaceX to access Starlink satellites to improve access to more reliable internet in the field.

In a tweet, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk wrote "Glad SpaceX could help! We are prioritizing emergency responders & locations with no Internet connectivity at all."
