Woman Claims She Had To Wait Three Days To File Restraining Order

A Miami-Dade County woman claims she was initially denied a chance to file a restraining order after she was abused.

The unidentified woman says she was abused by her husband recently, but when she went to the courthouse to get a restraining order against him, she was turned away because the courthouse was already at its COVID-19 capacity.

She contacted lawyer Jean Richardson this week, and he says she was denied again before finally getting the restraining order on her third attempt the following day.

Richardson says such a delay is unacceptable, and the Clerk of Court's office tells NBC 6 they're investigating.
