Palm Beach County Playgrounds Are Open For The First Time In Months

Playgrounds are now back open across Palm Beach County.

Under an emergency order issued Thursday at 5 p.m., all county-operated park playgrounds, water playgrounds, play and exercise equipment and volleyball courts were allowed to reopen.

Skate parks and bicycle tracks may reopen with supervision, supervised sports facilities with lights may be open after sunset and adult sports activities and leagues are permitted.

As for the playgrounds, the order notes that the county Parks and Recreation Department will clean and disinfect them every morning prior to use and a second cleaning of playground equipment will take place during the day. Water fountains and park restrooms will be open, and in parks where there are no restrooms, hand washing stations will be available.

There will be no monitoring, so signs are posted to remind parents that their children are playing at their own risk and warning them not to allowed sick children to use the playground equipment, stay socially distanced, wash hands frequently and wear a mask if they can.
