Illegal Immigration Plummets; The Wall Is Working

The latest illegal border crossing data from the US Customs and Border Protection agency shows results through July. The story remained the same as what we’ve seen throughout 2020. Fewer than half of the attempted illegal border crossings took place at our Southwest Border in July compared to a year ago. The government’s fiscal year runs October through September. During the 2019 fiscal year through July, over 862,000 detentions of illegal immigrants crossing the Southwest Border were made. Through July this year, the number has totaled 351,000 for a decline of 59%.

A combination of a completed border wall and a decline in organized caravans has led to dramatic improvement. As of August 10th, Customs and Border Patrol had completed the expansion of 275 miles of additional wall along our southern border, with some of the most exploited areas now being accounted for and construction ongoing. The progress with “The Wall” along with the stalling of organized caravans orchestrated by American leftist groups like Pueblo Sin Fronteras during the pandemic, has led to a huge improvement in illegal crossings. Still, with an average of 1,150 illegal crossings attempted per day, there’s more work to do but it’s clear that The Wall is working.
