The coronavirus continues to have a deadly toll on the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
Lieutenant Al Rengifo, Jr. passed away yesterday from COVID-19.
The 47-year-old had been in the hospital the last few weeks, and he leaves behind a wife and son.
He joined the sheriff's office 20 years ago, and Sheriff Gregory Tony says Rengifo epitomized the type of law enforcement officer we all should strive to become.
He's the fourth BSO employee and second deputy to die from the virus.
