Brazilian Beaches Requiring Reservations

The girl from Ipanema will need to have a reservation before going to the beach again in Rio de Janeiro.

The mayor announced that sunbathers will need to social distance and reserve space on the sand of one of the world's most famous beaches.

Violators face $20 fines.

The mayor says beach goers must reserve a spot on the shore via an app and then remain in demarcated areas. An opening date for the beaches has not been set.

Beaches in Rio closed back in March to fight the spread of the disease that has killed more than 100,000 people. The death toll is the second highest in the world, behind the United States.
