Disney Workers Reluctant to Return to Park

A group of Disney workers is trying to delay next month's planned re-opening of the four theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort complex.

The parks have been closed since mid-March due to the pandemic and the company rolled out a plan to re-open the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11th. Two other parks, EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios would open a few days later.

The employees have started a petition asking the mayors of Orlando and Orange County to block's Disney's plans.

After just a couple of days, the petition has nearly 5,000 signatures.

Before the pandemic, there were nearly 80,000 people employed at Walt Disney World, making it the largest single-site employer in the country. Disney says it has developed a comprehensive plan to open its theme parks and hotels safely for guests and cast members.
