The Average Person Spends 3,279 Days Of Their Life Watching TV

A study commissioned by LG and conducted by One Poll found that the average person spends about three and a half hours per day watching TV. Over the course of one’s life that equals about 9 years of sitting in front of the tube. On one hand, that sounds like a lot. On another, I’m not really all that surprised. It’s 11% of our lives but there’s a part of me that’s almost surprised it isn’t higher.

This did get me to thinking about my habits. I watch far less TV than the average person, I figured out I average about 1.2 hours per day with most of it coming on the weekend and even then, it’s still more than three years of my life. Basically, it’s safe to say that pretty much all of us literally spend years of our life watching TV. Of course, TV today isn’t traditional TV. It’s what’s online that we’re streaming.

I guess if it brings us enjoyment or satisfaction so be it. But then there’s this. The average person spends 111 days just trying to figure out what to watch. Now, that’s not the best use of those days.
