Our Phones Are Anti-Sex Machines

Given the amount of time and the number of products designed to help us become as productive as possible in the bedroom, I figured it’d be worthwhile to tell you what’s become the biggest obstacle to intimacy. It’s our phones. Tech firm Asurion just wrapped up a study about our use of smartphones in the bedroom and found that 75% of adults bring their phones to bed. Also, those who look at their phones prior to going to bed are twice as likely not to become intimate, even if they go to bed at the same time as their partners. Lastly, the average length of time we use our phone before going to sleep is up to 40 minutes.

Independent of intimacy, 40 minutes of screen time in bed for 75% of adults is a big takeaway unto itself. Otherwise, the big news here is that if you want more romance there’s an easy answer if you’re like three-quarters of adults. Put down the phone.
