Miami Celebrates Croqueta Day

It's not a national holiday ..... yet.

But October 1st is Croqueta Day in Miami-Dade County.

The tradition started last year when Mayor Carlos Gimenez designated the first of October as Croqueta Day to honor the 20-million deep-fried delights served by Sergo's.

You can get a free lunchtime croqueta at Sergio's today from noon until 1 and Vicky bakeries are offering free specialty croquetas today while supplies last.

Of course, there's always Dos Croquetas, the area's first and only croquetas-only bar in Westchester.

Ironically, Miami's Croqueta Day falls on "World Vegetarian Day."
