SNL Returns with Political Sketches

Saturday Night Live is back for its new season and the show opened with a familiar face, Alec Baldwin playing President Trump.

But that wasn't the only political sketch in the debut of the series' 45th season. SNL also skewered the Democrats in a fake town hall about the impeachment proceedings.

The bit mostly fell flat, except for performances by Larry David as Sen. Bernie Sanders, and a return by SNL alum Maya Rudolph. She came back to the show to portray Sen. Kamala Harris.

Woody Harrelson was the host of the show with Billie Eilish providing the music. This Saturday, "Fleabag's" Phoebe Waller-Bridge will host the show with musical performances by Taylor Swift.
