Screen Time May Be Responsible for Spike in Eyeglass Use by Teens

Excessive screen time could be to blame for the spike in the number of children needing eyeglasses. The UK-based company Scrivens Opticians found that the percentage of teens between 13 and 16 needing glasses has nearly doubled in the past seven years. It went from 20% in 2012 to 35% in 2019.

Scrivens says more research is needed on the issue.

However, a decent portion of surveyed parents (26%) say they have never taken their child for an eye test.
