Highlights From Around The State, July 12th

Here's a recap of some of the biggest news from around the state that impacts you in South Florida.

  • Florida’s school grades for the 2018-2019 school year are out. Palm Beach County and Miami Dade School Districts remained A districts this year with Broward maintaining a B grade. Statewide charter schools once again outperformed traditional public schools with 51% receiving A’s compared to 32% of traditional public schools and 74% of charters receiving at least a B grade compared to 61% of traditional public schools.
  • The previously planned ICE deportation plan is reportedly on for Sunday once again, with Miami cited as of one the ten cities expected to see activity by ICE agents. The plan calls for the removal of illegal immigrants who’ve previously been processed by the court system and ordered for deportation.
  • In Jacksonville, Cori Ward was arrested and charged with a felony for recording a video of her daughter licking a tongue depressor and placing it back with the others at the All About Kids and Families Medical Center. Cori posted the video to her SnapChat account.
