UPDATE: Nouman Raja has been sentenced to two concurrent 25 years sentences for a total of 50 years. Raja was convicted last month on charges of manslaughter by culpable negligence and attempted first-degree murder in the shooting death of Corey Jones.
EARLIER: The former Palm Beach Gardens police officer who shot and killed a man on the side of I-95 will learn his fate today.
The sentencing for Nouman Raja will take place his afternoon.
Last month, a jury convicted Raja on charges of manslaughter by culpable negligence and attempted first-degree murder in the shooting death of Corey Jones.
Raja says he was acting in self-defense when he shot Jones after spotting his broken-down vehicle.
His request for a retrial has been denied.
