Rare Rhino Breed Gives Birth at Zoo Miami

Zoo Miami announced on Twitter today that "Akuti" a 7 year old Great One Horned Indian Rhinoceros gave birth at 12:30am yesterday after a successful artificial insemination. This is the first known birth for this rare breed from artificial insemination. The gender of the rhino hasn't been revealed, yet.

This breed of rhino is very rare and there only about 3,000 known to exist due to poaching for their horns. They mainly live in protected areas of Nepal, India and Assam.
