South Florida Marks National Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Awareness month and "Amigos For Kids" is hosting local events to honor victims. President Lydia Muniz says it's a major problem here in Florida. The Department of Children and Families says there were 355-thousand abuse cases reported during Fiscal Year 2017-2018. The vigil will be held at 5:30 tonight at Jose Marti Park in Little Havana. Miami's Freedom Tower will also be lit up in blue to pay tribute to the children. The events come days after arrest of a a Miami Gardens man charged with aggravated child abuse for burning his girlfriends' 4-year-old son. He's also charged with molesting a 6-year-old girl last year.
