A state Senate committee today will take up a bill to raise the smoking age to 21... partly to stop the 25 percent of high schoolers using e-cigarettes. Right now the age to legally use tobacco in Florida is 18. The bill would exempt military personnel.
There are bills in the House and Senate, the House bill is ready for a floor vote, the Senate bill goes to committee today.
It would also require a pediatrician to sign off for any medical marijuana patients under 21. Vape shop owners and libertarian lawmakers make up the opposition. Laura Corbin from Tobacco Free Florida says teens like the flavors...
