The House Judiciary Committee approving the House's version of the bill which carries fines and penalties for local governments not fully cooperating with federal immigration authorities. This is welcome news to so-called angel parents like Kiyan Michael. Her son Brandon was hit and killed by an illegal in Jacksonville who had twice been deported and was driving without a license.
The Senate's proposed bill, up before the Rules Committee today, gives the attorney general authority to bring civil actions against local governments not cooperating with the feds.
