Confessed Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz will be in court for the rest of his hearings. Cruz's attorneys wanted to waive his attendance at pretrial hearings saying it draws television coverage that emotionally damages the survivors. But Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer said she would only allow that if Cruz himself stood before her acknowledging he "knowingly, voluntarily and intelligently" waived his appearance. The judge denied the request after Cruz refused to speak. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty-the 20-year-old is expected to go on trial early next year.
