Ex-Broward Sheriff Fights for Old Job

Former Broward Sheriff Scott Israel is in court, fighting to get his job back.

Governor Ron DeSantis removed Israel from office in January, accusing him of incompetence for the way he handled shootings in Parkland and at the airport.

Israel's lawyer says this suspension sets a bad precedent because anyone who disagrees with the governor could be removed from office.

The governor named Gregory Tony as Broward's new sheriff back in January.

While the lawsuit is pending, Israel, a Democrat, is appealing his suspension to the Republican-controlled Florida Senate

Israel says regardless of the judge's decision, he will run for his old job in 2020.
