Senator Scott Makes Port Funding a Priority

As governor, Rick Scott says his administration invested $1.4-billion into Florida's seaports.

Now that he's a United States senator, Scott wants to build on that investment and continue the expansion.

Scott toured PortMiami, where tunnel and dredging projects have made it possible to dock the largest cargo ships in the world.

He says the port is an economic engine, responsible for thousands of jobs across South Florida.

He met with the leaders of cruise lines and cargo companies to learn about their agenda in Washington and he promised to work with Customs and Border Protection, the EPA, and the Army Corps of Engineers to address some of their concerns.
