Investigators are working to identify the driver who struck a 4-year-old boy March 14th, took him to the hospital and then fled.
The Broward County Sheriff's Office says a woman was walking with three children near the 2700 block of North State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes when a car exiting the plaza hit a child and toddler in a stroller.
According to witnesses, the stroller tipped into the northbound lanes of traffic. The driver got out of her car and told the woman she would take the 4-year-old victim to the hospital. The child's injuries are described as non-life threatening.
Surveillance video shows the suspect outside Plantation General Hospital helping the victim, woman and two uninjured children into the emergency room entrance. She is also seen leaving the hospital in her car without leaving any information or calling law enforcement. The suspect also kept the stroller, which traffic homicide detectives said is evidence.
The car is described as a Chrysler 200 with white or silver paint. She was wearing a Minnie Mouse tank top, striped shorts, eyeglasses and her hair in ponytail.
