11-year old Kael Dewey is recovering from a shark attack that happened in Stuart Beach.
Dewey and his family were visiting from Iowa this week when their vacation turned chaotic. They were relaxing in the Florida ocean when the young boy started yelling for help.
"All of a sudden I felt something grab my foot and I started screaming from feeling a sharp pain, said Kael Dewey.”
Dewy's mother says she was afraid other predators would sense blood and hoover around her son after the initial attack.
Bystanders rushed Dewey out of the water and helped keep him calm until Martin County Ocean Rescue arrived.
Medics rushed him to the hospital where he received 16 stitches on the top and bottom of his foot.
