No More Guns At Dick's

After a successful trial run, Dick's Sporting Goods is removing guns from 125 of its locations.

Dick's is one of the largest firearm retailers in the nation. They experimented removing guns from ten stores and replaced them with batting cages, ski apparel and other sports gear. Now they are expanding that. Dick's began moving away from gun sales after the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The suspect in that shooting once bought a gun at Dick's, though that gun was not used in the attack.

The company said if the switch away from guns at the 125 locations is as successful as it was at the ten store test, then it will be expanded further. Dick's announced its earnings on Tuesday and reported sales fell nearly three percent.

Analysts claim some of that decline is based on its reaction to the Parkland shooting.
