The mother of a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting victim is pushing to oust Robert Runcie saying, "he has a history of leadership failures."
Lori Alhadeff placed a measure on Tuesday's board meeting calling for Superintendent Robert Runcie's dismissal. Alhadeff's 14-year-old daughter Alyssa died Feb. 14, 2018 during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre. She is now on the county school board and gained a following from many impacted by gun violence.
Members on the nine-member school board say their district's academic standing improved since his hiring in 2011 and the shooting wasn't caused by his policies.
The meeting started at 11:15 am and remains in session all Tuesday afternoon.
