The recreational use of marijuana would be allowed in Florida if a bill sponsored by a Miami Beach legislator becomes law.
This week, Representative Michael Grieco submitted bills to legalize recreational marijuana and to levy a new tax on it.
The proposal faces an uphill battle in Tallahassee, where House leaders already oppose smokable forms of medical marijuana.
The annual legislative session starts Tuesday.
