Miami-Dade Student Is On To National Spelling Bee

A Miami-Dade County student has a chance to be a national champion.

Twelve-year-old Rodrigo Medinilla won yesterday's Miami Herald spelling bee, which means he'll be competing in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC in May.

The seventh grader at Pinecrest Prep Middle School beat 165 other contestants from Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.

His winning word, by the way, was acervation, which, as you probably know, is spelled a-c-e-r-v-a-t-i-o-n.
