Miami Beach Commissioner Decides Not to Seek Re-Election

Commissioner John Elizabeth Aleman shared with iHeart Media her reasons behind not perusing another term in November’s 2019 election. The Miami Beach current City Commissioner in Group 6 said, her decision is strictly personal to focus on family first.

“I am very proud of my accomplishments in service to you and our City. Miami Beach is well positioned, with a newly completed Convention Center and Convention Center Hotel on the way, an approved General Obligation Bond that will yield two new parks and new public library. I am very proud of zoning changes to protect neighborhoods from invasion of commercial sober houses and detox centers, measures to control excessive proliferation of cannabis dispensaries, human trafficking initiatives that resulted in the closure of four massage parlors, resident friendly code changes new underground installs to raise city streets. In the 10 months of my Commission term, you will see no changes in how I act or vote. I will continue to provide you with exceptional strength to ensure a resilient future. Thank you for trusting me, it has been a pleasure to work for you and the people of Miami Beach. I wish you all God’s speed, “said Commissioner John Elizabeth Aleman
