People Urged To Get Help On Anniversary Of School Shooting

Professionals United for Parkland was created to help meet the short and long-term mental health needs of the community following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Dr. Judith Aronson-Ramos is a pediatrician who specializes in behavioral medicine.

She says there are events throughout the area to help people remember the tragedy, but she encourages people to take part in days of action and projects that contribute to the community and promote healing.

Dr. Aronson-Ramos says she also understands that some people will want to use the anniversary as a time to be alone and to reflect privately.

She recommends that people don't get too obsessed with all the news coverage of the anniversary, saying it could reopen old wounds.

A Parkland resident herself, she believes the community has done a wonderful job of coming together since the tragedy but she encourages anyone to come forward if they still feel that they need help.
