Miami-Dade Prison Workers Offering Warm Lunches To Federal Prison Workers

The federal government shutdown may be over, but workers are still struggling to make ends meet.

Their first checks in over a month won't come until later this week, so to offer a morale boost, Miami-Dade Corrections officials are opening their wallets and are buying and distributing warm lunches today to Southwest Miami-Dade federal prison officers.

Juan Diasgranados says his co-workers are excited because, "We know some of these officers. Some have come through our system, and then they went over to the federal side."

Diasgranados feels this is the least they can do because, "It's a brother and sisterhood. You know, we're always going to look out for each other."

He hopes this can also forge a new collaborative relationship between local and federal prison workers.
