Florida Secretary of State Mike Ertel is resigning after a photo of him in blackface emerged. The Tallahassee Democrat publsihed the photos of him wearing blackface with a shirt that said "Hurricane Katrina victim" at a Halloween 14 years ago.
Republican Governor Ron DeSantis's office announced Ertel's resignation just hours after the photos surfaced today. In his resignation letter, Ertel said "It has been an honor to serve you and the voters of Florida."
When pressed about the circumstances surrounding the photos, Ertel said there's nothing he can say.
