Miami Beach Commissioners Voting to Fill Vacancy

Tonight, Miami Beach commissioners will vote to fill a vacancy on the panel.

Commissioner Mark Samuelain says more than 30 people have applied to fill out the term that runs through November.

At tonight's meeting, Samuelain says 18 finalists will be chosen to make presentations to the commission and if four on the commission agree, a replacement will be chosen.

If the commission can't settle on just one candidate, a special election will have to be held.  An election would cost the city about $300,000 and another $300,000 if there's a runoff.

The seat opened up when Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez resigned to run for Congress.
