Proposal To Get $15 An Hour Minimum Wage On Florida's 2020 Ballot

The same group that convinced voters to approve medical marijuana now wants Florida's minimum wage nearly doubled.

As of January 1st, the Florida minimum wage is $8.46 an hour.  That's less than $340 a week and less than $18,000 a year.

It's the reason a ballot initiative is being launched to raise the wage to $15 an hour.

Florida for a Fair Wage's Ben Pollara expects a Florida Supreme Court hearing well before they hit the 766,000 signatures required to get the measure on the November 2020 ballot.

Pollara says the $15 figure has a lot of psychological obstacles with people stuck on anything over $10.
