Some big names in politics and entertainment will be honoring Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy today.
This morning, Governor Ron DeSantis is honoring the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King by visiting a boys school in Lauderdale Lakes.The governor will be at Piney Grove Boys Academy this morning for breakfast.Later in the day, the governor will speak at the Unity Heritage Festival outside Orlando.
Actor Danny Glover will join former nominee for governor, Andrew Gillum, and former at the 26th annual MLK Scholarship Breakfast at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The event raises scholarship money for graduating seniors of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project. Additional honorees include former Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.
The 42nd Annual MLK Day Parade is set for 11:00 this morning in Liberty City, and parades will also take place in Fort Lauderdale and Dania Beach at 9:00.
FIU honors Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy with a month-long celebration. Events will include a Day of Service, a youth forum, and an art exhibit.
Also, volunteers will clean up Miami's Madison Middle School as part of a Day of Service.
