President Trump made a special announcement on the humanitarian crisis on the southern border and talk more about the ongoing government shutdown. The President insists on his demand for $5.7 billion for a barrier on our southern border. He also offered protection from deportation for 800,000 DACA residents, and a three year extention for temporary protected status recipients. President Trump spent some time describing the human cost of illegal immigration to the immigrants themselves, including the sexual assault of women and abuse of children. He claims he got input from Democrats themselves on some of these proposals. He would like Senate Majority Leader to bring up his proposals as a piece of legislation as soon as possible.
