Congressman Alcee Hastings has pancreatic cancer.
In a statement, the 82-year-old said he will continue to serve in office while being treated in Washington.
He called his diagnosis a "battle worth fighting," adding that his "life is defined by fighting battles worth fighting."
Hastings lives in West Delray and has been in Congress since 1993.
