UFC star Polyana Viana taught a mugger in Rio de Janeiro a painful lesson when he tried to steal her phone. Viana told MMAJunkie that she was sitting on a bench in the Brazilian city when a man approached her and asked for the time. She pulled out her cell phone to check and after she told him the mugger demanded that she hand over her phone and warned that he had a gun.
“He was really close to me. So I thought, ‘If it’s a gun, he won’t have time to draw it,'" Viana explained. "So I stood up. I threw two punches and a kick. He fell, then I caught him in a rear-naked choke. Then I sat him down in the same place we were before and said, ‘Now we’ll wait for the police.’”
Viana said that after the brutal beating, the man asked her to call the police so she would stop attacking him.
“I was fine,” Viana said. “I was fine because he didn’t even react after. Since he took the punches very quickly, I think he was scared. So he didn’t react anymore."
UFC President Dana White shared a photo of the alleged and bloodied mugger on Instagram.
