South Florida Kids Look To Bright Futures Scholarship

Florida's main merit-based scholarship program is expected to grow.

A report by the Legislature's Office of Economic and Demographic Research says more students will be using Bright Futures scholarships to help pay for tuition fees, and books and state schools.

The projected growth for the program is five-point-seven percent for the academic year.

That could impact the state budget as lawmakers have approve 520 million dollars for the program, but the new expected cost is 545 million.
