Miami-Dade Raises Parking Fines

Claiming Miami-Dade's court-clerk system needs money to keep operating at full capacity, Miami-Dade County Commissioners have agreed to dramatically raise parking fines.

Under the ordinance, which will go into effect next summer, a parking ticket for an expired meter will jump from $18 to $32.  If you block an alley, you'll be looking at a $120 fine, up from the current $28.

Last year the clerk of court threatened to close satellite offices due to lack of funding.
