After Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday.
Founded in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a global movement where you invest time or money in your community.
Southeast Florida Better Business Bureau's Cynthia Lavin advises before opening your wallet, research the non-profit at the BBB Wise Giving Alliance website Give.org.
"They keep profiles on all the charitable organizations and all the information that they disclose yearly, and how much money they spend, how much money goes to the community they're helping," says Lavin.
She also recommends watching out for faux-charities with names that sound like real ones and those that contact you asking for money.
If you do decide to donate, she suggests using a credit card because if it turns out to be the wrong organization or a scammer, you can file a charge back with your credit card.
