No Candy Canes At Candy Cane Parade

Hollywood's annual Candy Cane Parade will be missing a key ingredient: the candy canes. This thanks to an ordinance banning the distribution of plastics east of the Intracoastal Waterway. Commissioner Peter Hernandez is in favor of the ordinance, but not happy with this decision. Hernandez said, "I think that the kids will be disappointed. I think there's a lot of children that go there expecting to have candy canes given to them, and unfortunately that's not going to be the case this year."

City Hall has come up with an alternative candy to hand out: peppermint-flavored saltwater taffy wrapped in biodegradable wax paper.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the parade which gets underway December 8th.
