Collins Ave Flooding Ties Up Traffic In Miami Beach

Drivers trying to get off Miami Beach or heading up toward Surfside, Bal Harbour and beach municipalities north of Miami Beach on Thursday morning found themselves in a sticky -- err, wet -- situations.

Authorities closed off all but one lane for a few blocks around 29th Street as flooding tied up traffic.

City workers say the connector between a water main and the fire hydrant in front of Triton Tower, 2899 Collins Ave., blew as a crew worked on the fire hydrant.

The building flooded, and so did the street, which was one way northbound at that point.
