Floridaโ€™s Early Voting Update for October 25th

We enter day four of early voting today for Floridaโ€™s midterm elections. I wanted to begin by setting the stage for the final home stretch to Election Day. Each weekday Iโ€™ll be providing an early voting update and comparing turnout to the previous midterm cycle in 2014. There are 28 early voting locations in Miami-Dade, 22 locations in Broward and 14 locations in Palm Beach County. First hereโ€™s where we stand with votes received by mail & early voting totals through Wednesday.

  • Democrats: 570,046 โ€“ 39%
  • Republicans: 623,206 โ€“ 43%
  • Indy/3rd party: 253,759 โ€“ 18%

After three days of Floridaโ€™s early voting, the GOPโ€™s advantage has been cut by another one point to land at a 4% edge in overall votes cast. If youโ€™re attempting to gauge turnout, hereโ€™s what you should look for in Florida. These were the total early voting totals (vote by mail and early voting) breakouts from 2014 heading into Election Day.

  • Democrats:  40%
  • Republicans: 42%
  • Indy/3rd party: 18%

Republicans held a 2% overall voter advantage in 2014 heading into Election Day in a cycle that was favorable for them generally across our state. Typically, weโ€™ve seen Republicans hold an advantage in voting by mail and on Election Day with Democrats posting better turnout in early voting. Thatโ€™s continued to be the case in the early going this cycle.
