The latest polls show that Donna Shalala is now ahead of her Republican rival Maria Elvira Salazar in the race to replace Ileana Ros-Lehtinen in Florida's 27th congressional district.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee survey says Shalala has 44-percent of the vote compared to Salazar's 39-percent.
One year ago, many Republicans thought the race would be unwinnable for Shalala. But now, things are looking pretty close.
Shalala says that's to be expected.
Voters head to the polls November 6th.
