Mistrial Declared In Case Of FL Man Who Murdered, Dismembered Father

The son of a former Macomb County Judge and Commissioner will have a second murder trial in Florida.

James ScandiritoJr. is charged with the death of 74-year-old James Scandirito last April.

The dismembered remains of the elder Scandirito were found in a shallow grave on an abandoned golf course.

Authorities say the victim's son was under surveillance by police after he reported his father missing. Several suspicious purchases were made with the father's credit cards.

The Sun-Sentinel newspaper says a mistrial was declared due to the medical leave of an assistant prosecutor.

Scandirito's next trial is scheduled to being October 4th.
