University Of Florida Leads In Professor Raises Among FL Public Schools

A new study says the University of Florida is ahead of the rest of the state when it comes to bumping up pay for its professors.

Full-time UF professors in Gainesville got an average 8.8 percent salary increase in 2017-18.

A study by the American Association of University Professors says associate professors got an 8.3 percent bump as well.

Both figures were the highest increases among 23 Florida colleges and universities in the survey.

Average full professor salary at Florida is $149,100, second-highest in the state behind the private University of Miami at $164,200.

University of Florida officials say the pay increases are in line with the school's mission to climb from a top 10 public institution in the country to the top five.
