Scott Admin's Response To Hurricane Irma Under Federal Investigation

The federal government will investigate the debris removal contracts that were negotiated by the Governor Rick Scott administration in response to Hurricane Irma.

The Inspector General at the Department of Homeland Security will audit the contracts that appear to show the state ignored debris removal contracts already in place and spent millions more to hire a company that had no experience in debris removal.

The governor's office says it intervened because companies hired by Monroe County were unable to get the work done.
