South Florida media joins the resistance and ignores Dr. King’s message.
Here's your daily dose of nonsense in the media and my take on it. Today's headline comes from the Sun Sentinel, Rep. Ron DeSantis resigns from Congress to focus on race for governor.
You’ve got to be kidding me. Now Ron DeSantis is responsible for what other people have said that you think is controversial? Not what he said, but others? This was a hit piece first advanced by the Washington Post picked up by the Sun-Sentinel and placed right above an opinion piece that was a hit on Rick Scott. What we’re seeing is the evolution of our local media to mirror what we’ve seen on the national stage for the past couple of years. Those with their eyes open have long been able to see the left lean of South Florida media outlets. Once upon a time, it was mostly innocent, in many cases simply the left-leaning views of most in the industry, washing through in coverage.
No longer. Just as we’ve seen networks like CNN and NBC networks, which used to at least to attempt to appear objective, embrace hard left reporting as the standard, we're seeing it permeate in local media like never before. We’re now seeing local news media perpetuating transparent hit pieces that are baseless mirroring much of the national media. Here’s the irony, they attempt to continue the slanderous campaign against DeSantis. This is a live look at how they’re doing it, DeSantis, a Trump acolyte and lawyer in the Navy Reserve, against Andrew Gillum, the mayor of Tallahassee, who would become the state’s first African American governor.
Who’s attempting to make this about race? It isn’t DeSantis. Once again, the race baiters, who ignore Dr. King’s message are those in news media attempting to take out an American Hero in Ron DeSantis. The gubernatorial candidate served in Seal Team One and is a Bronze Star and Iraq Campaign medal recipient. Something I’ve never once seen reported in any local media coverage of Ron.
