FL Supreme Court To Review Miami Beach Minimum Wage Ordinance

The Florida Supreme Court will now review the city of Miami Beach's minimum wage ordinance.

In 2015, Miami Beach voted to increase the minimum wage to $10.31 per hour, eventually getting to $13.31 per hour by 2021.

The state sued the city in 2016, arguing that the 2003 Florida state preemption law bars local governments from establishing minimum wages.

The city claims the 2004 Minimum Wage Amendment to the Florida Constitution does not prohibit local minimum wage ordinances.
