A Pensacola man says he has figured out a way to help people lose weight and address what he calls a national security issue.
Matthew Jeffries has developed an app that helps people get in shape so they can join the military.
The Warfighters Fitness app was inspired by Jeffries' own experience in training after six years in the military, which included time in Afghanistan.
Through his app, Jeffries is monitoring the progress of 22 young people from the Pensacola area in completing exercises and eating healthy.
The app is unique because it includes specific physical fitness exercises done by the various service branches and includes videos demonstrating how the exercises should be done properly.
The app also gives participants a chance to talk to each other and support each other in their goal of being accepted for military service.
